VOLUNTEER POSITIONS Come join the volunteers of the Fire Museum of Maryland and be a part of fire history. The Fire Museum will be closed in January and February 2008 for construction. Volunteers are needed to assist with moving of apparatus and collections, cleaning and cataloguing and working with curatorial staff during construction. Volunteers will also work with reinstallation of exhibit spaces in preparation for reopening in May 2008. The Fire Museum uses volunteers (age 18 and older) in all areas of its operation, from tour guides to school programs and senior citizens groups, to working in the Museum shop, assisting the Director with Development and Fund Raising Activities, to assisting the Curator and Registrar with collections related activities. Explore the many volunteer opportunities at the Fire Museum of Maryland. Current listings are available below through Volunteer Match. If you have an interest in volunteering, please fill in the Volunteer Application.
INTERNSHIPS The Fire Museum of Maryland offers a limited number of internships each year for those enrolled in graduate-level museum studies or education programs. The Museum will work with the student’s school to provide a good grounding in the operations and administration of a non-profit museum organization. Interns are assigned directly to a specific staff member who serves as the intern’s supervisor and mentor for the duration of the internship. Current internship positions are available. Please click on Internship Positions to find listings of current jobs. If you wish to apply for an internship, please email a letter of inquiry and copy of your resume to the appropriate supervisor listed in the job description. If you have general questions, please contact the Director of the Fire Museum at (410) 321-7500. ©Copyright 2007 Fire Museum of Maryland. All rights reserved. |
