Lantern Night at the Fire Museum

On Saturday, October 28th from 6 pm to 8 pm, Lantern Night, a lovely fall tradition here at the Fire Museum, will take place. For one night only, we light candle or kerosene lanterns on many pieces of our historic apparatus. The lighting is soft and shadowy. As you wander our aisles, you feel transported into the past. In addition, we have historic re-enactors in period costumes around the Museum. You may run into a Buffalo Soldier, an 1800’s firefighter, or Civil War soldier. They’re happy to talk with visitors about life in days gone by. Our Discovery Room is open for Lantern Night. Here, youngsters can dress-up in pint-sized turnout gear and climb on a real fire engine. We also have plenty of trucks and trains on hand for interactive play.

New this year, Baltimore’s Brew House No. 16 Gastropub will be offering locally brewed craft beer for sale. Brew House No. 16 is located in an old Baltimore firehouse, and retains the original red wood bay doors and brass poles. We love their commitment to history!

Also new this year, we will have Baltimore’s FoxTrot Chocolates offering gourmet chocolates and candies for sale. If you’ve been to the Farmers’ Market at the Timonium Fairgrounds, you know how good their chocolate treats are.

We’ll have pizza for sale from our friends at GT Pizza in Lutherville, and cider too.

Lantern night is an all-ages event, fun for families and a unique outing for date night. Lantern Night is Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 6 pm – 8 pm. Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and firefighters, and $6 for kids. Come in costume and admission is half price!

Tickets are available at the door.
