Fire Alarm Office
Fire department communications have been a very important part of combating and extinguishing fires for centuries, and the methods used to communicate information about fires have been continually improved for more than 200 years.
Here at the Fire Museum, we have one of the most extensive displays of working fire alarm communication devices in the world. With artifacts covering more than 150 years worth of history, this collection incorporates many working telegraph registers, manual and automatic repeaters, and central fire alarm office-specific technology, in addition to period furniture and lighting. Be sure to come by for a demonstration!
