Accessible & Sensory-Friendly Museum Programs

The Fire Museum of Maryland has conducted many programs for groups of both youths and adults who have special or sensory needs. This is something we are very proud of and are happy to continue to do so. Education staff at the museum has received instruction as to how to best conduct tours and programs for special needs individuals. This includes checking on triggers, adjusting lights, omitting sound portions of tours, and other considerations. The museum is mostly ADA compliant with the exception of the newly added fireboat and considerations for that are being reviewed currently.
