A Tour Just For You

As a museum, education is the driving force of our mission. We have established tour programs that are popular with students and adults. For students, they are designed to align with Maryland’s Curriculum Standards. However, most people do not realize that we are ready, willing, and able to draw from our collection to create new programs on a variety of subjects! On April 21st the Fire Museum hosted a group of 11th and 12th graders from the Friends School of Baltimore’s Automotive Physics class. The McLaughlin Collection

Recently, the Fire Museum of Maryland was the recipient of a substantial gift from the McLaughlin Company insurance agency of Rockville, Maryland. They had a large collection of fire-themed artwork and early twentieth-century toys which had been acquired over the years, and were kind enough to donate them to the Museum. Over the course of several days, staff and volunteers at the Museum opened and sorted boxes and their contents, inventoried and cataloged each individual piece, and began to develop plans for several exhibits that will incorporate these items.
