New at the Museum

You asked, and we listened!

Some people have asked “Why don’t you have interactive exhibits?” Well, the answer is, we do. The museum has always had different components of exhibits that are hands-on, but you may not have noticed them as you go through the various wonderful exhibits we have. So next time you’re at the fire museum look around for our “Action Stations.”

We have now placed these “Action Station” symbols throughout the museum to help you identify when there is an exhibit that you can interact with. In the museum you will find many hands-on opportunities to engage with the various exhibits and other unique items that help tell the national story of urban firefighting in America.

Take an audio tour with our fabulous acoustic guide system located at the entrance to the museum that contains two different audio tours. One tour will take you further into the history of exhibits throughout the museum, or you can learn

more about the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 in another.

Hands-on stations are throughout the museum allowing you to activate lights and bells, or even pulling one of our many working fire alarm boxes that send a signal to our fully functioning Alarm Office. In our Alarm Office, you can see history in motion through over 140 years of operating fire alarm communications equipment that take you from 1870 to the present day (demonstrations announced regularly).

Don't forget to bring your smart phone with a "QR Reader" App. You will find some Action Stations have a QR Code you can scan with your smart phone to take you deeper into an exhibit.

There is much to see and do at the museum so come on in and check us out!
